We are happy to announce that the German Research Foundation DFG approved the cluster of excellency "BlueMat: Water-Driven Materials".
The Hamburg University of Technology and its partners received a grant for up to 77 million Euro for the next seven years. The cluster is built around a revolutionary research approach: to functionalize materials through water.
Water is everywhere, but it is also an exceptional tool for changing many materials' properties. The targeted use of water can change how a material saves and generates energy, its translucency or colour, its electromagnetic properties and its mechanical flexibility, just to name a few examples. With the use of sustainable materials, we are paving the way for innovative and environmentally friendly applications.
Lead by the Hamburg University of Technology, the cluster was made possible by our expert partners:
Hamburg University
Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY)
Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg
Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg
Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing
Helmholtz Centre Hereon
Max-Planck-Institut für Struktur und Dynamik der Materie
European X-Ray Free Electron Laser GmbH (EuXFEL)
Furthermore participated:
Fraunhofer IAPT Einrichtung für Additive Produktionstechnologien
Hamburg Media School
Center for Molecular Water Science CMWS
UN University
